Déluge Collective
Déluge Collective: A Structure for Growth
Déluge is a jazz collective formed in 2017 by around fifteen musicians with strong ties to Bordeaux and its region. Its motto could be summed up as: action, creation, self-management. Run daily by Julien Dubois, Thomas Julienne, and Katia Pelisson, its mission is to keep creative jazz alive wherever possible.
Déluge Collective: A 2024/2025 Outlook
The past years have been a prolific period for the Déluge collective, reinforcing its roots in the French cultural landscape through new regional and international partnerships.
In 2022, the emergence of Orchid Big Band—comprising ten female and nine male musicians—marked a major milestone, opening the European Jazz Conference in Marseille during the Festival des 5 Continents.
In 2023, Le Voyage de Claude was created following residencies at the Théâtre des 4 Saisons (Gradignan) and the CALM (Lesparre), and was successfully presented by Jeunesses Musicales de France.
At the same time, Les Enfants d’Icare undertook a residency at Le Triton for their second repertoire, Après le Déluge, accompanied by Arts and Cultural Education activities from November 2023 through spring 2024. The Théâtre des Quatre Saisons welcomed Le Jardin for their new repertoire, Le Soi et l’Autre, with premieres scheduled for autumn 2024.
In 2022, the quintet Theorem of Joy gave brilliant performances of L’Hiver and Dysnomia Live in Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Awarded the Lauréat de L’Art de la Reprise by Onda, Dysnomia Live was presented at La Méca in May 2024 during the European Night of Museums. In October 2023, Theorem of Joy toured China with the L’Hiver repertoire, opening up promising prospects for 2024. As a 2024 IF Export laureate, the quintet performed 13 concerts in China in October 2024, contributing to a 14-date China tour overall.
Since September 2023, the Déluge collective has paused its programming activities in Bordeaux to focus on disseminating its creations. A festival may be organised at the end of spring 2025 in conjunction with “Collision Collective” (a touring scheme initiated by Grands Formats).
Since 2023, the collective has committed to improving its digital visibility and strengthening its presence at professional trade fairs to support the dissemination of all its projects. The collective has been working with Guillaume Barbara, a webmaster specialised in digital marketing, on better SEO optimisation for each project, along with targeted and relevant Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns.
